What we are trying to achieve

Wouldn’t it be great to wake up in the morning, get out of bed, enjoying the sunrise while you sip your cup a joe and be able to choose whether or not you would like to work today or not?

The reality is though that most of us are completely reliant on our day to day job because we are living paycheck to paycheck.

The last 10 years or so, the number of people trying to achieve financial independence and documenting there journey on blogs, vlogs and what have you, seems to have gone up dramatically. This has been really inspiring to a lot of people, and the FIRE community is really strong. I’m also following many FIRE blogs. What I find most inspiring is the fact that people who are striving for financial independence are simply challenging the way things are usually done and putting themselves in the driver seat of the journey of life. I like that way of thinking.

“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”

Thomas Carlyle – Philosopher and much more

With that being said:

Our website storm haus is NOT a FIRE blog.

It’s not that we don’t want to be financially independent and retire early. But what we really want is to have a good life all around, being able to do the things we want to do while we have energy and opportunities to do it. The fact is that you never know what the future brings. You might get struck by lightning tomorrow. You might also live to be 250 years old, having transferred your mind into a nanochip. Who really knows?

What we want to do is to have a simple life where we can do what we want. Not in a selfish way. We want to be able to give and add value to people around us.

If you are not thinking about how to take responsibility for you and your family’s financial life, you will not get far ahead financially speaking. As Thomas Carlyle put it: “A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”

We want to live a balanced life and enjoy inspiring experiences. Both of us are inherently crazy scared of commitment (still got married tho haha). For the most part, we don’t like commitment because it usually reduces our freedom. And we love freedom, as most human beings do. The love of freedom, combined with Mr. Storms long history of having a fascination of having money work for you instead of trading your time for money, is the basis for setting ourselves some financial goals. You can read about them here. We also check in every so often to keep you updated on how we progress.

Stay tuned.
